Carrie and her Dogs

I had the pleasure of photographing Carrie and her two dog companions, Holly and Derby, in Belfast, Maine yesterday. They stayed at the sweetest cottage right on the water. Even the name is quaint – “Daylily Cottage.” The above photograph was actually taken towards the end of the session, when we were able to get both dogs in the same place at the same time! Holly, the chocolate lab is only two years old, and very well behaved I might add. Derby, who I kept calling Bentley for some reason, is seven and, of course, much smaller with less energy. I thought this was the perfect image to introduce all three of them to you. Carrie, I had such a great time meeting you and your pooches, and doing my best to capture all the action! Photographing energetic dogs is very much the same as trying to capture all the moments of toddlers, which I love!
Here, I’ll show you what I mean! Hope you enjoy your preview!
Carrie, you had this wonderful look of adoration on your face many times yesterday as you were watching Holly play in the water.
For a brief moment, all three in the same frame!
“Look mom, I’m on one leg!” I think they’re dancing!
A white picket fence wraps around the front yard, which is right above a rocky beach. Fabulous view!
Derby was quite pooped at the end of our session and moms lap was just the perfect resting place. Isn’t he the cutest!
And this photo is my favorite from the session. When I first saw it I actually got a little teary eyed. The look of contentment and love on both faces is just so perfect. I can’t wait to finish editing the rest of your photos, Carrie! Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to create some lasting treasures for you to enjoy, forever . . .

I have been so blessed with the most beautiful people to photograph, both adults and children. I cannot complain one bit. In fact, I have much to be thankful for. Yes, the economy is still struggling along but I have held fast to what inspires me and what gives me the most joy. My reward has been plenty of work to feed my passion. The beauty about what I do is twofold. Not only do I reap the benefits of being satisfied in my profession, but my clients benefit for years to come. They receive treasured moments of their lives, held together in the form of a photograph. The moment will always be alive for them every time they look at it. What a gift!
I just love this family! It isn’t easy having three children of different ages all coming together in good spirits just long enough to have their photos taken. But we did it! And I believe everyone had a good time, too, which is what it’s all about. Thank you, Jay and Alison, for giving me this opportunity to do another session of your beautiful children. A lot of changes in two years! Enjoy your preview!
