Portland, Maine Photo Session
Posted on March 27, 2011
Well, somehow my daughter managed to convince me to drive down to Portland after I had worked most of the day. And I was up at 4:30am. She agreed to do a photo shoot, which completely erased any exhaustion I may have had. It was a gorgeous day, but oh so very cold with a biting northwest wind. I dressed for the occasion. My daughter on the other hand dressed for spring. I told her she’s going to freeze. She said “oh well!” Freeze she did, which meant I got very few pictures. That’s okay. It got my juices flowing for coming back to this beautiful city to do more sessions. I love the urban feel and look, and Portland, Maine is just the right size for a country girl like me.
Without further ado, here’s my lovely daughter, who is a week away from turning 16. Yikes!!
And here are some photos I took a couple of weeks ago of my son here on the farm. My two babies are growing up!

Winter Photo Session – Maine
Posted on January 12, 2011
Oh my goodness, did we get a boatload of snow or what?!! It’s so beautiful, don’t you think? The way I see it, if we’re going to have winter, we might as well have snow! What I find fascinating, though, is that 49 of the 50 states has snow – even Hawaii! Seven inches! How is that possible?! The earth, she is a changing . . .
One thing I adore about winter is the light and the atmosphere created by all the elements. With a day like today, nature provided all the props I needed – snow, wind and a gorgeous landscape. I finally talked my daughter into a photo session during the snow storm. I had to bribe her, even pay her, but it was so worth it! She’s gorgeous in any season, but I have to say there are a few of these images that are my all time favorites. I knew the second she bought that hat, I would have to photograph her wearing it. She almost didn’t do it, but I promised her it would only be for a couple of shots.
So, there’s the hat series. Pretty cute, eh! Okay, so I’m just a little biased!
Animals are great winter props, too!
Muffin is probably thinking “does she always have to do that!”
These last 2 pictures were taken during the height of the storm.
Okay, this is the scoop. As you just saw, winter is the most amazing time to take photographs. Portraits can be gorgeous, even during a snow storm. I would love, love, love to do photo sessions during the winter. Stay tuned for a special that may entice you right out of your warm house and into the snow with me and my camera!! I’ll be posting “that special” by this weekend, so do check back. Until then, make lots of snow angels!!
