Labor Day weekend this year was filled with work, but my job as a family photographer never feels like work. I met with the Claesson's for the second year in a row at Pemaquid Beach and Back Cove for family photos. The children change so much in a years time, especially from baby to toddler hood. The boys were busy and kept me on my toes! The oldest was very agile on the big rocks, leaping from to another like a goat. I'm sure it won't be long before his younger brother will follow suit.
The biggest lesson I have learned from photographing young children, is persistence. All of my sessions are on location and the only plan I have is to capture the essence of each individual. Not an easy task with busy, playful kids, which is where persistence comes in. The eldest child insisted on making silly faces. Little did he know that the shutter button is faster than him, allowing me to get genuine smiles in between! At first the youngest was a little more reserved , but with the beautiful distraction of fun at the beach, smiles became inevitable.
Starting with Back Cove
Now on to Pemaquid Beach
I have come to really love silhouette photographs. My reason is simple. The feeling of the image is decided by the reader, which allows for the freedom of many expressions. The above image as well as the next three show so much joy between each family member. You can practically hear the laughter and giggles!
The above photo was a "mistake" but after I saw this I decided it wasn't a mistake after all! I really love how it came out. I hope you enjoyed your preview! I'll let you know when the rest are finished. For all the rest of you reading this, if you are thinking of having your family photos taken, it isn't too late! Christmas is right around the corner. Giving a gift certificate for a photo session is a fabulous idea. In fact, buy one for yourself! You can contact me here so we can start making plans!
